STAFFING

The SHIRM unit has the following: 

  1. Head (1) of Unit: Oversees all aspects of the unit, sets strategic direction, and ensures adherence to university policies and best practices. 
  2. Team Leads (3): Each leads a specialized team (e.g., Hardware Maintenance, Software Maintenance, Training and Support). 
  3. Technicians (3): Perform hands-on repair and maintenance tasks, categorized based on expertise (e.g., desktop support, server administration, network technician). 
  4. Administrative Staff (1): Handles scheduling, billing, inventory management, and client communication. 

II. Job Descriptions:

Head of Unit:

  1. Reports to: COMSIT Director
  2. Responsibilities: Overall strategic direction, budget management, performance review, stakeholder relations, policy compliance.
  3. Team Leads: (Each reports directly to the Unit Head/Manager)
  4. Team Lead – Hardware Maintenance: Manages hardware technicians; responsible for hardware repair, maintenance, inventory.
  5. Team Lead – Software Maintenance: Manages software technicians; responsible for software installation, updates, troubleshooting.
  6. Team Lead – Network Infrastructure: Manages network technicians; responsible for network maintenance, security, and troubleshooting.
  7. Team Lead – Training and Support: Manages support staff and interns; responsible for user training, help desk operations, documentation.
  8. Technicians: (Each reports to their respective Team Lead)
  9. Several technicians under each Team Lead, specialized by area (e.g., Desktop Support Technicians, Server Administrators, Network Technicians).

Student Interns: (Report to their respective Team Lead)

Administrative Staff: (Reports directly to the Unit Head)
